Letter excusing Daniel Clement from military service, 1818
Capt. Butterfield,
Mr. Daniel Clement is, in my opinion, unable to do military duty by reason of bursal swellings and debility of his elbows.
Israel Gildreth unreadable
Dracut Sept.29th 1818. 3rd Reg. 2d Brig. 3d Div.
Approved Timothy Butterfield
- As mentioned in 📄 Clement Documents there's also a receipt for something unreadable "administered to his arm" on 25 June 1818, which seems relevant.
- The Captain Butterfield mentioned here seems to be unrelated to the later Camp Butterfield mentioned in some of James Harvey Clement (1836-1862)'s letters from the Civil War.
